BIGFOOT Cyclist Skills Training

Room 9 (and some of Room 7 members) are READY and ENTHUSIASTIC to learn all about how to be safe (and have fun) on bicycles.

Check back later for photos on our practical activities taking part this afternoon!

Can you take a guess on what Megan is trying to demonstrate to us in this photo...?

Manaiakalani Film Festival

We're ready for the Manaiakalani Film festival!

Room 9 was so excited to see our movies on the BIG screen.  It was our first time making movies and we thought we did amazing considering none of us are iMovie experts.

Don't forget to scroll up to watch our movies and leave us a comment!

Happy Halloween!

Room 9 had a blast dressing up... Room 9 students spent the day running (or flying!) around with realistic looking costumes and masks, yelling BOO at as many teachers as they could AND there was fake blood everywhere! Hair, arms, writing books, carpets, doors, desks, mirrors... EVERYWHERE!

We hope everyone enjoyed celebrating Halloween as much as Room 9 did!

Happy Halloween bloggers! Please remember to be safe when trick or treating tonight! Make sure an adult is with you at all times and be careful when crossing the road, walking up and past driveways.

Note: Have a look at Room 9 individual student blogs for close up photos of our costumes!

What is a Quality Blog Comment you ask?

As the start of Term 4 begins, we spent some time in our first week reviewing the Kawa of Care and our Cybersmart lessons from Term 1 to 3.
We reviewed our Google Slides about quality blog comments.  Have a look at the slides we worked on in Term 3.

We'd love it if you'd take a peep at our blogs and leave us a comment!

We LOVE Word Bubbles!

Room 9 shared the highlights of their School Holidays using Word Clouds.
Have a peep of what we all got up to!

Room 9 made HISTORY!

To earn a white PB4L band you must show F-I-R-E 200 times, Black 400 times, Blue 600 times and to receive an Orange band - you've guessed it 800 times! 800!

Anaysha and Danielle made history by being the first two students to earn an Orange band!

Check out Anayshas & Danielle's blog posts about making GTS history!

NOTE: Miss Ly left this post in her drafts over the holidays.... Oopsie!

Making Inferences

Hello Week 10!

Last week of Term 3 has finally arrived!
We'll be spending this week finishing our Changing Landscapes Inquiries, exploding (literally) our paper mache volcanoes and I might even sneak in an assessment... or two!
We've all worked so hard this term and are all ready for a much deserved break!

Make sure you pop back into Room 9's blog (and student's) to see our erupting volcanoes as well as other end of the term madness!

Eleven #11

Room 9 had only ELEVEN members turn up for school for today... ELEVEN!

Jokes!
Room 9 is amazing with attending school everyday and arriving to class on time.
Half of the class was out at Kapa Haka practise and the other quarter was at a Rugby Tournament.

Miss Ly took advantage of a small class and together we completed our PB4L Classroom Matrix.

Happy Thursday everybody!

What's the Big Idea?

Last week Room 9 enjoyed a show called "What's the Big Idea".

We learnt that our fears are just our imagination running wild and that we are in control of our own thoughts... Nobody else!

Remember to be confident and always read, read and read! Or ELSE a troll... an orge... a kahui-tipua will appear and .....

Have a fabulous first day of Spring!

Blog Posts

Room 9 looked through our student blogs and Miss Ly was very happy to see that we were sharing a lot of our learning.  We wanted to clarify as a class what we should be posting and should not be posted on our blogs.
Have a look at what we think is appropriate and not through the padlet below!

See our responses here!

Hello Term 3!

Room 9 has had a hectic first week back with Student Led Conferences and Assembly preparation.  Though we were exhausted and used to sleeping in at least midday, we powered on through and worked hard all week despite the disruptions.

Have a look at our individual student blogs for more of what we got up to this week!

PS: Doesn't it look like Room 9 is about to release a music album in this photo?

Have you seen the Tutira Mai campaign and challenge? Yes?

But have you seen ours?
Glen Taylor School students and teachers stood together and took on the #tutiramai challenge!

Check it out!

The judges were so impressed with us, we were invited to be one of the five schools selected to perform in front of the All Blacks for the final stage of the competition!

Check back later this week to see how our performance went!

Bye Bye Toni

We've have had great fun this term with our volleyball sessions.
We have learnt some amazing volleyball skills and techniques from our coach Toni.
Sadly, our time with Toni has come to an end but Room 9 wishes Toni all the best with her Volleyball scholarship in America!
Learn everything you can, explore, travel and don't forget to indulge in American candy and chips!

Much love, from Room 9

Kawa of Care - Parent Evening

What a SUCCESS!
Eighteen whanau members were able to attend our Kawa of Care parent evening and by the end of the evening, eighteen delighted Room 9 students happily skipped out of the classroom with their Chromebooks.

Miss Ly was ecstatic to see you all working on your homework tasks for the week! She was also super impressed to see that you all had logged off your Chromebooks by 8:30pm!

Kawa of Care

Week 9, two weeks till a much needed break and the week we finally can all take our Chrome books home for learning!
We had Miss Sadgrove chat to us about what tomorrow afternoon will look like as well as answer any curious questions we had.

We spent the morning collaborating with Room 10 to check through our Kawa of Care slide deck and role played on how our discussions with our whanau might go tomorrow afternoon!

We can't wait to take our Chromebooks home!
Miss Ly can't wait to no longer have to worry about locking up your Chromebooks at the end of the day!

Old School Playground Games

While I was on duty this week, I was ecstatic to find a group of Room 9 students playing skipping rope!  It was a favourite of mine back in Primary School!

Room 9 is putting the challenge out there to other classes to see if they can come up with a few skipping rope tricks and skills and compete with us in two's or three's!

Did you know - 10 minutes of skipping can have the same health benefits as a 45 minute run?
